July 21, 2011

Today we did some tours. We did hop on hop off bus tour, a green bus tour , and a boat tour.

First we did the hop on hop off bus tour. The hop on hop off tour was fun. We saw the cafe where JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter the books started her writing. We also got to keep the earphones from the tour.

Then we did the green bus tour. It was fun. Our guide’s microphone kept going out so we couldn’t hear him that well. It was still fun. We saw the Edinburgh castle and the Royal Mile, which has a lot of shops on it. A lot of people got hanged at the castle. They tested for witches in the pond under the castle.

This is how they tested for witches. They tied their left thumb to their right toe and their right thumb to their left toe. If they drowned, they were not a witch, and they would say sorry and give them a Christian grave. If they floated, they were a witch, they were sent to the castle to be burned. Either way they died. That wasn’t fair.

Finally we did the boat tour. It was so fun. We first had to take a 45 minute bus tour where my brother and I mostly played games. When we got to the boat we got on and found a seat outside. In the middle of it we went down to the snack bar and got some snacks. On our way back we saw seals and live puffins. My Tommy thought that was so cool. Then we went back to the dock and got on the bus. It was freezing the whole time.

When we went to the hotel we then went swimming finally. It was fun. The pool itself was cold so my brother and I stayed in the hot tub. Then we went to dinner and I split a pasta with my brother and I had a lemon tart again. They both were delicious. Then we went back to our hot room to go to bed.

Today I had a great day.

Today we went to Edinburgh Scotland. The train ride was fun. It was four hours long. When we went to the hotel we couldn’t go swimming because it was closed. So then we went to eat. I got lasagna and a lemon tart. They were both delicious. Then we went to bed. It was so hot. We will probably never stay at that hotel again.

It scared me at first because it was cold and very rocky. We got out of the train station and there was a big castle and a lot of double decker buses.

July 19- London #2

Today my family and I went to London with Vicki. We rode the London tour boat, walked across the Millennium Bridge to Saint Pauls, and just missed Tower of London.

The tour boat was fun. It was next to the Eye. It told us lots of stuff like the Shard building  going to be covered completely in glass and will be the tallest building in Europe when its finished. Our tour guide was funny.

Vicki went on a tour, and we walked across the Millennium Bridge to St. Pauls.  The Millennium Bridge is also called the Wobbly Bridge because when it was built the architect said people were walking on it the wrong way and it started wobbling.  He said it wasn’t his fault. Saint Pauls was pretty. Unfortunately there were no birds there that we could feed. It was raining too hard when we got there.

Then we went to the Tower of London. When we were getting there we took an old fashioned double decker red bus. When we got to the Tower of London we had just missed it, so we went to the gift shop and my mom got a  movie and my brother got a knight and a horse figure. Then we left.

After all this I was exhausted.

July 18- Cambridge

Today my Tommy, My brother, and I explored Cambridge. We went on the hop on hop off bus, punting,  Pizza hut, and we went to Chocolat Chocolat.

First we went to Pizza hut. I had a pepperoni pizza with a smile. I also had sprite. The breadsticks were really hard.

Then we went to Chocolat Chocolat. That place was good. We each got a truffle.

When we went to The Hop on Hop off bus we saw lots of things like American soil at the American Military cemetery. We had a commentary that we got earphones which we got to keep. Did you know in the late 14 hundreds Lady Margret Beaufort got engaged at 8 years old and married at 14?

Then we went punting. That was fun. We had a good tour guide. Then my family and I got to try punting. It was fun. You had to be very strong to punt so we got help from the guide.

Today we went to London.
We had to take a bus from one train station to another because they were doing construction.  That was painful. It ended up taking 5 hours.

First we went to the British museum. We saw the Greek things that the British took. We also saw the Afghanistan exhibit. Did you know Afghanistan was on the Silk Road? Then we had crepes. Toffee might sound good before you try it. Ugh it was nasty!  My Tommy got spinach and cheese. It might sound nasty but it was delicious.

Then we went to the London Eye. That was fun. It was high. At first you would be held by the top and then when you went to the top it was holding you up from just the bottom.Isn’t the engineering of it cool? We saw so much from the Eye. I saw where the queen lives, Big Ben, and a weird looking building with a green top.

When we were coming back my Tommy was the oldest person on the tube. We were so tired after today.

July 16- Harry Potter

Today we went to see Harry Potter 7.2. It was great. At the movie theater it was weird. You have to reserve your seats before you see it. The popcorn is great because its like little balls. The small popcorn is huge. They have luxury seats. There are not much different besides the fact they are bigger. There was the funniest Video of cats with opposable thumbs wanting milk. It was hilarious and nobody in the theater laughed except us. That made no sense. Then aunt Vicki just left and we thought she abandoned us. Turns out she just ran out to go to the bathroom.

Yesterday Tommy came. We also left Paris. We were walking around trying to find Tommy in Cambridge. We then had to get the bus. Since it was very late it was harder. But we finally found her at miss Vickis uncles house. My brother was so happy to see me.I was also so so happy to see him too.

Today we went to Paris. It was fun. We were supposed to go to the Eiffel tower but we didn’t because we had to find the Paris Pass but the Eiffel tower wasn’t on there unfortunately. Paris was cold and rainy. We hope its nice tomorrow for the Eiffel Tower. Then we went on the hop on hop off bus. That was fun. That’s enough for one day. I still miss both my friends and family.

Today we went to London. We saw the Believe It or Not museum there. It was really fun. There we went in a mirror maze and you had to try and you try and find the exit. We found it in about 2 mins. Other people took a long time. Then we went to Phantom of the Opera. That was great. Today was a great day but I do still miss my family.
